Cab Screens Husqvarna - Race Report – Hawkstone International Motocross

Hawkstone International Motocross, Shropshire. Feb 7th 2016.

This weekend saw the team take a trip to Shropshire for the first big outdoor race of the year, The Hawkstone International. A whole host of World Championship Factory teams were in attendance, with KTM, Husqvarna, Kawasaki and Suzuki GP riders ready to do battle with top British teams.

This event was as much about testing our new bikes, parts, suspension, awning etc, as it was about the riders getting an early season race under their belt.

MX1 race 1

Dan pulled a great start and was a flying 6th out of the gate and settled into the race for an eventual 11th place. A great results considering the quality of the line-up. James unfortunately had some issues on lap one meaning he couldn’t finish the race.

MX1 race 2

A decent start by both Dan and James before an unfortunate crash on lap 1 involving both our riders, meaning they both had to start from the back of the pack. There’s a very good video clip of the crash on our Facebook page, so go and have a look. It was a racing incident and it happens. Both Dan and James got stuck in though and finished 15th and 16th respectively.

It was always going to be a tough ask for Josh in the International MX2 race, up against a 2x World Champion and a host of GP regulars, in his first full season in the Adult ranks. But Josh gave a very good account of himself and did not look out of place, coming home in 26th place in race 1. You could see Josh’s confidence growing through the day and race 2 showed that as he improved to 23rd place.

The final race of the day was the Superfinal, in which the top 20 from MX1 and MX2 combined to make a 40 strong line up of the best riders from the day. Dan started solid in around 12th place before a big crash saw the need for a pit stop to straighten the front end out. Heading back out, Dan dug deep and made his way back up to a commendable 16th place.

Overall a decent day. All 3 riders learn a lot and walked away ready to race at The Valence International in France next weekend.
